“This workbook cannot be opened because it is not stored in an Excel Services Application trusted location”


Add the document library path to Trusted File Locations in the Central Administration


Go to Central Administration –> Manage service applications under Application Management > click on the Excel Services Application > Click on the Trusted File Locations > Add Trusted File Location under Excel Services Application > Add the document library url (OR file location) on the Address box and check the Children trusted check box –> Click ok
Please note: Don’t use like http://server:1010/documentlibrary1/forms/default.aspx instead of http://server:1010/documentlibrary1
After completing this configuration, a new Error popped up

“The workbook cannot be opened”


The event viewer is showing the following Critical error message. 3760
In this error, the login failed for user ‘’ to access the SharePoint content database.
Solution is to grant permissions to the account in the SQL database
Go to the content database (you can see in the event log ’’) and click Security node.
Click Users on the Security node, you will be getting the all user details on the Object Explorer pane
Right click on the Users and select the New Users
Enter service account name (you can see in the event log ‘’) and click the db_owner check box on the Role Members and click ok.
After completing this configuration, a new Error popped up again

“The workbook includes features that prevent it from being opened at all in Excel Web App”
